HHH recognizes that it is critically important that its relief effort for Haiti be focused, rapid and efficient, avoiding duplication and targeting the specific areas where we can be most effective. To that end, HHH is focusing on the rapid movement of containers and air lifts of medicines and medical equipment and supplies. HHH is coordinating with its long standing partners, the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System and International Relief and Development (IRD) as well as Catholic Health Association (CHA) (both based in Washington DC) to achieve this objective. HHH together with its partners will ship 12 containers of medicines and supplies in the next week or two and is seeking donations to assist with the actual shipment of these supplies. As a 501-C-3 public charity, donations to HHH are tax deductible. HHH also recognizes that this relief effort will be a long process, and is committed to continuing its shipment for the months to come.
HHH has had a long standing relationship with Haiti. The Founder of HHH, Dr. Mary Healey Sedutto has worked with Haiti since 1995, at which time she served the Archdiocese of New York as the Secretariat for Health. A frequent visitor there, she was devastated to learn of the death of the Archbishop of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Joseph Serge Miot, who died in the earthquake, along with the loss of so many others.
While it is naturally the desire of everyone to drop everything and go to Haiti to assist, the reality is that greater assistance can come in the form of donations which will enable the relief teams on the ground to have the medicines and materials and supplies they need to do their jobs. Donors can contribute to this cause by going to the HHH web site at www.hopeforahealthierhumanity.org or by calling at 718 966 4750 or emailing to hopeforahealthierhumanity@Gmail.com.
